UK Orienteering League, Long Distance Race
It is possible to come to Formby by train direct from the centre of Liverpool. The journey takes 30 minutes. It is a 2k walk or cycle ride from Formby station to the event assembly.
When you get off the train, go up the steps off the platform & turn right out of the main entrance onto Formby Bridge. Take the second turning on the left into Ward Avenue. At the T-juction at the end of Ward Avenue, turn right onto Queen’s Road which becomes Bushby’s Lane. Vehicles travelling to the event will be approaching in this direction so display something “orienteering” and you may get a lift.

The event will be signed from the A565/B5424 roundabout junction at the south end of the Formby bypass. Grid ref SD306057. You will see brown signs with beach logo “Lifeboat Road”.
